Some Photos of Our Farm

Me and my family has been hosting a Fine-Arts Co-op where we learn about Artists, and Poets, Old Folk songs, and plays by William Shakespeare, etc. For Artist study, we are studying, R.C. Hickman a photographer in the time of 1922. For homework we can take some pictures, and bring them back for next week and share them with our friends. One beautiful Fall afternoon, I took some pictures by our pond on our farm.

Our Field Fire

One evening me, my mom, Olivia, and my Nana were out shopping in Tyler. My dad and Sophie stayed home to work on the farm. After a day of shopping, lunch and fun we arrived  s ome and unloaded our bags. Olivia prepared to go to a Bible Study and me and Sophie made some candles. As Olivia and my mom walked out to the car to leave, they unexpectedly saw a big cloud of smoke coming from the field. My mom walked out to the pond where the smoke was coming from and saw part of our field burning with fire. Earlier in the day my dad started a burn pile in the field by the pond. The fire had spread from the pile and was moving closer to our tree farm! My mom ran to the barn to get the mule and headed out to find my dad, who was in the woods on his tractor. I was in the kitchen cooling my candles when Sophie called me to the door. She told me to get my shoes on and follow her to the pond. I really enjoy writing poems. In my spare time that is what I like to do. It helps me express my thoughts and use my imagination. About My Christmas Season

This Christmas month my family and I have been reading an Advent book by Ann Voskamp which shows us the true meaning of Christmas through stories from the Bible. The book is called Unwrapping the Greatest Gift. The greatest gift is Jesus, and the book shows us that instead of unwrapping gifts from under the tree, we can unwrap God’s love and let him be our greatest gift. During Advent we always do fun and exciting crafts as a family. This year we built Ginger Bread houses, cut out paper snowflakes, celebrated Saint Nicholas, learned about the legend of the Candy Cane, had a Christmas sing along, worked on Christmas puzzles, and watched Christmas movies by the fire.   When I was younger, we also did Advent but I did not understand it as well and focused more on the presents. Now I think of it as a celebration of Jesus’ birth and His love for me. God is the reason of this month, and we should spend it in His remembrance.
