My Miracle Kittens

One beautiful Sunday morning this spring, as we were hopping in the car to leave for Church, Sophie looked over to the box where our favorite cat Brandi (Brandoch Daha) lay, to find a big surprise. One baby kitten lay nursing from Brandi’s side. It was striped, and had little marks all over its tiny body. We had been waiting for weeks for her to have her babies, and even more excited were we, when we came home to find two more striped kittens. Later that day, the fourth, and last baby was born. He was black with white mittens, and a white nose. Brandi is Sophie’s cat, and being generous because me and my sister’s cats ran away, she let us have two, and gave the other two, to our friends. I chose the kitten with the black body, and Olivia, one of the striped girls. There are two girls and two boys, and we are keeping one boy and girl.

One day before we were leaving for the afternoon, we put the kitties in our chicken coop to run around and play. They were still small, and would enjoy their time stretching their legs!
We arrived home later, I cleaned out my things from the car, and went inside. Because it was a Wednesday, I still had to read a book called, What Katy Did. (By the way, it is on my Favorite Books To Read, on the gadget side bar.)
I went outside on our swing under our 200-year-old Pecan tree. But before I started the first sentence, I heard my sisters, and parents. I looked up, and they were scattered around the field. I ran to see what they were doing. Olivia held her kitten, and Sophie our friends. Where were the other two kittens? I called to them, and they had very sad faces. Sophie told me that the other two cats were missing. When I heard the news, I was so dreadfully sad. Where could they be? How did they get out? We looked all around the nearby field, and barns, but they were no-where to be seen. We checked the chicken coop over and over, and we could not see them anywhere, or any bones where the chickens might have eaten them. We went inside with broken hearts. We had killed the kittens. It was our fault. Their mother Brandi would be so sad. Even though she is only a cat, she meows a lot when kittens are missing. We have had many incidents. One of our kittens got ran over by a car, one died in my hands, and many others have been attacked by Coyotes. It is sad to see such pitiful kittens, no older than two weeks be killed. That day was one of the saddest days of my life.
Weeks passed. No news of kittens.

My good friends the Littles came one day for a visit. My friend and I went Dewberry picking that Afternoon.
By the way, if you live on a farm, and you have a thorn bush with red, purplish looking berries, those are Dewberries, and they are edible! The red ones are not. They are still ripening. ey THeHere is a photo of one of these bushes.

My friend, Madison went with me, and when we arrived back at the house, we had a container full of juicy, ripe, berries. The parents, and my sisters, and Madison’s brother were all outside. We showed them the berries. We had never seen dewberries this big and sweet! They were very impressed, and couldn’t wait to eat them, but first I was told by my mom to start the laundry, and give Brandi some food and water. I finished these tasks, and was going to eat some berries, when Madison looked into the laundry room where Brandi was, and screamed. I looked at her questioningly. “The other kittens are in there!” She cried. I thought at first that it was a prank, but when I looked into the cardboard box where Brandi sat, there the mysterious missing kittens were laying! I was out of my mind! There they were, sipping Brandi’s milk, like nothing had happened. When I looked back at the others, they were crying/laughing. They put the kittens in the box after the dads had found them in the garage.
My dad and Madison’s dad were out in the garage, when suddenly they had heard a small meow. When they looked over, they saw the missing kittens behind our horse tack! It was so exciting for them. Now they had surprised me and my friend by putting them in the box while we were picking dewberries! I was so happy. I could not believe it. I had looked over the kittens without even noticing it!!!!!!
The rest of the day me and my friends took some pictures of the kittens, and I knew that from that day it would always be a wonderful story to tell. It was surely a miracle from God!
