Growing Strawberries!

Image
How many strawberry plants do you think it takes to grow an abundant crop? This spring I learned! At the beginning of 2017 my mom challenged me and my sisters to choose a Farm Project to work on. I have many interests on our farm such as gardening, raising a new animal for the farm, and building projects such as pens for the animals or trellises for the garden. I had so much to choose from. My sister Olivia chose gardening. She planted a bountiful garden full of lettuce, cabbage, beets, and tomatoes! My other sister, Sophia had a different project in mind. She has always been interested in yarn and fiber. This year she has been earning money and saving it up to buy a spinning wheel. Her project is raising a male and female sheep. She will raise them, have them sheared, and use their fiber for spinning. Then she can crochet with her hand spun yarn. On her blog: Courageisfoundinunlikelyplaces.blogspot.com , she has a crocheting project which you can use! Go see it, and you may lov...

Lord of the Rings Quote!

The Lord of the r ings is a wonderful book by J.R.R. Tolkien. There is also a movie for it that you can watch. (Making sure to read the books first.) This is a part of the book made me feel  very inspired by. It is so meaningful, and makes me smile every time I read it!  It is beautiful, and I hope it brings the same feeling to you. Enjoy! Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the ending, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened. But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come and when the sun shines it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant s...

My Miracle Kittens

Image
One beautiful Sunday morning this spring, as we were hopping in the car to leave for Church, Sophie looked over to the box where our favorite cat Brandi (Brandoch Daha) lay, to find a big surprise. One baby kitten lay nursing from Brandi’s side. It was striped, and had little marks all over its tiny body. We had been waiting for weeks for her to have her babies, and even more excited were we, when we came home to find two more striped kittens. Later that day, the fourth, and last baby was born. He was black with white mittens, and a white nose. Brandi is Sophie’s cat, and being generous because me and my sister’s cats ran away, she let us have two, and gave the other two, to our friends. I chose the kitten with the black body, and Olivia, one of the striped girls. There are two girls and two boys, and we are keeping one boy and girl. One day before we were leaving for the afternoon, we put the kitties in our chicken coop to run around and play. They were still small, and would enj...
