This Christmas month my family and I have been reading an Advent book by Ann Voskamp which shows us the true meaning of Christmas through stories from the Bible. The book is called Unwrapping the Greatest Gift. The greatest gift is Jesus, and the book shows us that instead of unwrapping gifts from under the tree, we can unwrap God’s love and let him be our greatest gift. During Advent we always do fun and exciting crafts as a family. This year we built Ginger Bread houses, cut out paper snowflakes, celebrated Saint Nicholas, learned about the legend of the Candy Cane, had a Christmas sing along, worked on Christmas puzzles, and watched Christmas movies by the fire. When I was younger, we also did Advent but I did not understand it as well and focused more on the presents. Now I think of it as a celebration of Jesus’ birth and His love for me.
